Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). He was no ordinary beggar. Friends carried him every day to the gate of the Temple, where he asked those who went into the Temple for money. Everyone knew him and no one was exempt from his pleas, including Peter and John. Peter recognized that this was an opportunity for a public demonstration of God’s power and love. Turning and looking at the lame man, Peter boldly declared: “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6). He then explained the way to salvation to the astonished multitude, and 5,000 men became believers! The envious religious leaders had Peter and John arrested and put into prison. When they were asked by what power the lame man had been healed, Peter answered, “… By the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole” (Acts 4:10). There is power in the name of Jesus. With courts outlawing public prayers in the name of Jesus, it is time for believers to watch for opportunities to demonstrate the power of that name by crying out to God for the healing, salvation, and freedom from addictions of those whom the world views as “hopeless.”

Pictured is my 83 year old aunt “Kate”, about 3 years ago while I was in prison, Chaplain Scott, whom I worked for, received an emergency call from my mother. She told me that the doctor had made a special house call to inform my aunt she had cancer in every organ of her body. She was eaten up with it and there was nothing they could do. My aunt Kate means everything to me; I was raised around her all my childhood. My old cell partners John Husky, Rick Hamilton, and I begin to fast and “Cry Out” to the Lord for her healing. She was 80 at the time, that’s been three years ago and she has no cancer. Other than her eye site she is as healthy as most 65 year olds. Everywhere I go I look for opportunities for Jesus to show Himself strong. We live in a world that has tried to kill Jesus, but I am here to tell you He is as alive today as when He walked the face of this earth. Few have the faith to prove this to themselves; I challenge you to “Cry Out” and ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you!

Stephens County Jail: The work in the jail is still phenomenal and God is so alive there. Not only are we still having the “Basic Life Principles”, “Anger Resolution”, “Financial Freedom”, and “Advance Seminars” for the men, but now we have begun the seminars for the women as well. Men and women are giving their lives to the Lord, and we are allowed to baptize them in their pods. You can read a short testimony about these seminars on our web site just click on “Basic Life Principles Seminars”. The atmosphere of the jail is really amazing and once again I commend the entire sheriff’s dept. and jail staff. We need a “Steps of Christ Recovery Home” for men in Duncan. We are sending them all over the state. Be in prayer about this please. Some of these youngsters do not have a chance when they get out of jail and I have to drop them off right back in the same drug infested environment. I know several of them would have done well if I had a place for them.

Christian Jubilee Celebration: Sat. October 23, (6:30pm to 10:00pm) Deer Creek Mall, 3001 N Hwy 81 (Sears). Honoring our Local Authorities, the Stephens County Drug Court, Sheriffs Dept and Jail Administration, Duncan Law Enforcement, for working together with “ Local Churches and  Recovery Groups”  allowing Jesus Christ  to move so powerfully through each of these offices as He re-creates the lives of men and women!  Live praise and worship music by “The Revolving”, “David Woods and R.D. Green”, opening for them will be the “Boyer Family”. There will be powerful testimonies of how the Lord used these above mentioned offices to drastically change the lives of men and women. Guest Speaker Barbara (Pack) Maphet will close with her amazing story which has been written in 4 different languages as she has ministered throughout the world the past 12 years.  Her written testimony is on her web site. www.freeatlastmimistries.com.

Steps of Christ Recovery Group:  Come join our family as we journey through life’s difficulties together and learn that Jesus is all we ever needed, that He has been with us all the time, we just need our eyes opened sometimes. We have excellent child care as well. Hope to see you at 7 pm, I promise you will feel the love of Jesus and leave encouraged, refreshed, and with a new or improved purpose for life. R.D. Green and several others bring their musical instruments and we have a great time praising and worshiping God before we begin. We care, but more importantly Jesus cares, and that’s where we stay, at the feet of Jesus. Tuesday nights is open share as we discuss the inward characteristics of developing Godly character, and Saturday is step night. The steps are developed on the Commands of Christ; the very truths Jesus said would set you free. After all this is what recovery is all about, being free! Tuesday night we look at, and discuss the very characteristic it takes to keep the step Saturday night.

Web Site www.deliveredfrommeth.com: Now has streamer hardware for instant viewing on all audio and video testimonies. These stories are very encouraging and from all walks of life. Cindy Horn, Nita Warren, Julie Cook, Michelle Johnson, Guy Thurlo, Mark Pressgrove, Jeff Walker, Lana Walker, My mother Stella Duckworth, Gabe Martin, Dennis Hall, Kendra (King) Reed, and the baptism of her precious daughter, Loren. Also written testimonies by Barbara Pack, Debbie Stocking, Dennis Hall, and Lisa Cummings.  We have also installed the new “Studio Manger”, click on “audio sermons’ and hear many of the messages I have preached throughout the state and at the “Steps of Christ Recovery Group”, new ones posted weekly. We are in the process of posting a page titled “Miracles of God” which He has performed this past year, it will astonish you! He is ALIVE and showing Himself strong on the behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him!

As I close this month’s letter I will leave you with this thought. Remember God’s two friends, Moses and Abraham. Ever wonder why they were the only two in the Bible called friends of God, one reason they obeyed God, but there’s something these two have in common most of us lack, mercy. When God was going to destroy Israel and Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness, both these men pleaded with God to have mercy. Getting close to God will make you more like Him. His mercy was poured out at the cross. Heck a lot of people I hear today would say come on God lets go kill those wicked sinners and start over with us!

Once again words just cannot express how grateful I am to each and every one of you who keeps this ministry going though your prayers, encouragement, counsel, and support in so many ways. I assure you I strive to be a good Stewart with what the Lord has entrusted to me. Just so you will know, I do support many folks who need assistance of all kinds, so your financial support doesn’t just extend to me, as God brings troubling situations to me I try to wisely help in every way I can. This is a hard ministry, lots of problems and whole new directions in life, but the rewards are awesome, and to be used of God to help put lives back together, to truly see the years that the locust devoured, indeed restored, makes it all worth it. I have said before there is one man who goes down into the well, but there are many holding the rope, we all have scares from the labor. Thank you for those precious scares. And to my church family at Gatlin thank you for your support and team work, especially Betty Skiles for being so devoted to the child care. Without you guys this would never be! And lastly to all my prison family, thank you for all the letters guys. Sorry I don’t answer you personally, maybe things will slow down and I will have more time. But I miss you guys tremendously, Rick I hear what’s going on and I am so very proud of you. John words could never begin to describe how I feel about you. As I read those letters I bawled like a baby thinking of the years we had together and all your wise counsel. I think you could send me a visitation form, might be time I can come and see you soon. Sammy what can I say! And Jason you are like my son. I am so very proud of all of you guys and love each of you with all my heart, yes even you Sam! Bolo if you’re out there I love and miss you as well!
